Deutsche WindGuard successfully receive full accreditation for verification according to TR 10 for wind farms

Deutsche WindGuard accredited to determine the quality of the site, Obligation to check according to TR 10 for the first wind farms in operation

Varel – Deutsche WindGuard Consulting GmbH now offers the determination of site quality after commissioning in accordance with Technical Guideline (TR) 10 of the Promotion Society for Wind Energy and Other Decentralized Energies (FGW) as an accredited service.

After successful accreditation, the company from Varel received the corresponding certificate from the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) at the end of July.

According to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) 2017, the site quality after five, ten and 15 years of operation of a wind turbine (WEA) is based on Check operating data. TR 10 defines corresponding technical procedures for determining the quality of the site, taking into account lost income for periods in which the system was not technically available.

“Operators of wind farms that went into operation in 2017 will be subject to the first review in 2022,” says Martin Strack, Head of Site and Yield Evaluation at Deutsche WindGuard Consulting. With the accreditation, the company has positioned itself well for this task. According to TR 10, in addition to accreditation, successful participation in the round robin tests carried out by the FGW is also required, which Deutsche WindGuard had already completed in advance.

Martin Strack has been contributing his extensive expertise in the development of methods for operating data evaluation to the work of the FGW for many years. He played a key role in the development of TR 10 and heads the “Methodology and Validation” working group and the “Interlaboratory Test” working group in the associated FGW technical committee.

“In addition, we can draw on a wealth of experience from technical operations management and the evaluation of operational data, which Deutsche WindGuard has gained over more than 20 years,” adds Martin Strack.

As early as 2021, Martin Strack received approval from the FGW Advisory Board “EEG Categorization” to validate the assignment of the status codes of wind turbines to the five availability categories specified in TR 10 and to issue corresponding certificates of conformity. Since then, he has already supported various system manufacturers in categorizing the status codes.

“With our many years of experience and our know-how, we not only master all topics related to the TR 10, but also know the background from the operator and manufacturer perspective,” summarizes Martin Strack, “our customers benefit from this when determining the location quality of their wind farm – also and especially if there are ambiguities or gaps in the data .”
