Russian Security Chip, Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has drafted an order bill requiring migrant workers (up to more than 90 days) and foreigners to obtain a plastic card with personal data, photos and fingerprint chips, this document will take effect on December 29, 2021.
According to the report about Russian Security Chip, this plastic card with chip will be a double-sided card with a size of 85.6mm×53.9mm. Attached to the front of the card is a picture of a foreigner with a size of 3cm×4cm, name, gender and date of birth. On the back is the cardholder’s nationality information, ID and identity information, as well as the chip containing personal information. In addition, the card also has an electronic photo of the cardholder and fingerprints of 2 fingers.
According to the report, Russia will issue such cards as technology permits. In other cases, these cards will not have a chip.
It is reported that from December 29, 2021, labor immigrants and foreigners who have come to Russia for more than 90 days will have to be fingerprinted.
